1. I Shall Wear Midnight: hands down the best book I've read in a long, long while. I laughed, I cried, and I loved it so, so much.
2. Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances : took me two weeks to read this tiny thing, but I absolutely loved it! The Sleeper and the Spindle was just ugh, so good, so-so good! Overall, probably my favorite Gaiman so far
3. The Book Thief : I bought this book in 2013, and have been putting it off forever. So glad I picked it up, it was beautiful, and heart-wrenching, and just amazing
4. The Final Empire : I only read the first book of the trilogy this year, but it was awesome and I will definitely continue on with the series as soon as I have enough money to buy the rest of the books
5. The Sword of Summer : a classic Riordan. Loved it. Especially after the fail that is Heroes of Olympus
6. The Knife of Never Letting Go : I initially bought it because of gooooorgeous covers, and was very surprised to find out that it's about a 13-year-old boy, and aliens, and all that jazz. Spent the entirety of the first to book screaming internally, because SO. GOOD. Now I'm reading book three, though, and I'm afraid I'm not gonna like it even half as much. However, as far as trilogies go, this one is really, really good
7. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe : a spur of the moment buy because COVER, but dang this book!
8. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda : CUTE.
9. Ask the Passengers
10. Queen of Shadows : who cares about all them Mary Sue's, this book was amazing.

Some things are simply impossible to do. For example, I won’t be able to draw or sing to save my life. It’s just how I work and I cannot do anything about it.

But there are things that can, and should be done, but they’re just so hard you want to give up before you even start.

For me one of those things is saying ‘you’ (he, she, it—whatever) instead of ‘I’. For example, the other day one of my groupmates brought a book with her to read during breaks. Being the curious cat I am, I, of course, had to ask her what book it was because I couldn’t see the cover.

After she showed it to me I immediately replied, ‘Oh, I have a copy of this one, too!’

And that was the end of the conversation. Why couldn’t I just say something like ‘Oh, it’s a really good book, how do you like it?’ No, I had to show that I’m somewhat better, that I got this book before she did. What for? The only answer I can come up with is to show off. Well done.

Even this post, I could start it with something like 'humans can't fly', but the first thing I thought of was reeeeeeally egocentric. I guess that's just how I work—I need to do something about it, though.

In other news, went to watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and I loved it A LOT! The ending was pretty sad though - I just didn't see it coming because I've never read the comic. So when I got out of the movie theater I put my iPod library on shuffle (that's over 1.7k songs total) in hope it plays me something positive and uptempo and fun, you know? And then All Time Low's Remembering Sunday starts. I was not expecting that! The song is one of my all time favorites, yes, but it's also so extremely sad and heartbreaking and actually fits the ending of the movie so well..

Okay, that was random.

Anyways, here's an amazing song by an amazing singer whom I found this month, she's incredible and I'm kind of obsessed. Yup.

Когда начался этот год, я пообещала себе, что буду больше писать. Я провалилась уже к середине января, но, по крайней мере, я пыталась. Фанфикшен, какой бы он ни был, ограничивает во множестве смыслов.

Желание завести блог появилось примерно тогда же. У меня много мыслей, ещё больше - мнений обо всём, чаще неправильных и не тех, которые должны быть, но в этом же и веселье.

И вот он здесь, и я совершенно без понятия, что мне писать.

Whatever.

В любом случае, вот песня, которая не отпускает меня уже несколько недель, и вряд ли отпустит в скором времени.
